Schroders launches first two European active ETFs

Media release, Wednesday 24 September 2025

Schroders today unveils the launch of its active exchange traded funds (ETF) capability in Europe, further demonstrating its ability to develop and offer clients actively managed and relevant products which meet their evolving needs.

This launch builds on Schroders’ existing ETF capabilities in the US and Australia, providing wider global access to its market-leading active management expertise via an ETF wrapper.

Schroder ETFs ICAV - Schroder Global Equity Active UCITS ETF1 will increase the accessibility of Schroders’ $24 billion QEP Global Core strategy.

Furthermore, Schroder ETFs ICAV - Schroder Global Investment Grade Corporate Bond Active UCITS ETF2 will enhance the availability of the existing $3 billion investment strategy, which uses fundamental research combined with systematic tools to improve returns for investors. It was previously only available through segregated mandates.

These initial two ETFs are designed to complement Schroders’ existing range of products and provide investors with additional means of harnessing the active management leader’s investment expertise at a competitive price.

Schroder ETFs ICAV - Schroder Global Equity Active UCITS ETF will list on XETRA Deutsche Borse on Friday 26 September and will be shortly joined by Schroder ETFs ICAV - Schroder Global Investment Grade Corporate Bond Active UCITS ETF. These listings will be followed by further listings on the London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana and SIX Swiss Exchange.

Johanna Kyrklund, Group Chief Investment Officer, Schroders, said:
“Schroders is bringing more than 220 years of active investment expertise into European active ETFs for the first time. We are building on the decade of experience we already have offering active ETFs by bringing two of our world-class equities and fixed income strategies to a broader audience, through European domiciled ETF wrappers.
“In today’s dynamic market environment, access to market-leading active management expertise is crucial. These launches will ensure our clients can benefit from the flexibility and accessibility of an ETF wrapper, as well as the potential superior returns delivered by our active investing edge.”
Meagen Burnett, Chief Financial Officer, Schroders, said:
“This key milestone demonstrates our ability to harness the scale of Schroders’ investment and operating platforms to enhance the distribution access points for existing and new clients. This allows us to offer our active investment edge in a new wrapper.
“Our European active ETF launches will enable us to reach more investors and further reinforce our commitment to moving at pace and offering the variety of investment tools and differentiated returns our clients increasingly expect.”

Managed by Lukas Kamblevicius, Co-Head of Schroders’ Quantitative Equity Products (QEP) Investment Team, the ETF will adopt the Schroder QEP Global Core strategy. This is an actively managed strategy covering a broad global universe of approximately 15,000 stocks, drawing on a 25-year track record.

The focus of the strategy is on delivering consistent outperformance across a range of market environments with lower relative risk to its MSCI World benchmark. The strategy has outperformed in 20 of 25 calendar years since inception, recording a 1.0% annualised (gross of fees) relative return in line with its return target3.

A pure global investment grade strategy without exposure to high yield securities or other off-benchmark bonds, the ETF will have limited benchmark relative risk, maintaining a low level of tracking error.

The Fund aims to provide income and capital growth in excess of the Bloomberg Global Aggregate Corporate Index (Hedged to USD)4. The team and bottom-up process have a six-year track record with 1.4% annualised relative returns5.

Schroders launched its first active ETFs in Australia in 2016, before launching its first active ETF with its US partner Hartford Funds in 2018.
